Psalm 89: I will sing of the love of the Lord forever

Standard

Psalm 89
God’s Covenant with David
A Maskil of Ethan the Ezrahite.

1
I will sing of your steadfast love, O Lord, forever;

with my mouth I will proclaim your faithfulness to all generations.

2
I declare that your steadfast love is established forever;

your faithfulness is as firm as the heavens.

3
You said, “I have made a covenant with my chosen one,

I have sworn to my servant David:

4
‘I will establish your descendants forever,

and build your throne for all generations.’ ”Selah

5
Let the heavens praise your wonders, O Lord,

your faithfulness in the assembly of the holy ones.

6
For who in the skies can be compared to the Lord?

Who among the heavenly beings is like the Lord,

7
a God feared in the council of the holy ones,

great and awesome above all that are around him?

8
O Lord God of hosts,

who is as mighty as you, O Lord?

Your faithfulness surrounds you.

9
You rule the raging of the sea;

when its waves rise, you still them.

10
You crushed Rahab like a carcass;

you scattered your enemies with your mighty arm.

11
The heavens are yours, the earth also is yours;

the world and all that is in it—you have founded them.

12
The north and the south—you created them;

Tabor and Hermon joyously praise your name.

13
You have a mighty arm;

strong is your hand, high your right hand.

14
Righteousness and justice are the foundation of your throne;

steadfast love and faithfulness go before you.

15
Happy are the people who know the festal shout,

who walk, O Lord, in the light of your countenance;

16
they exult in your name all day long,

and extol your righteousness.

17
For you are the glory of their strength;

by your favor our horn is exalted.

18
For our shield belongs to the Lord,

our king to the Holy One of Israel.

For the Lord is Good!

Standard

For the Lord is good; His mercy and loving-kindness are everlasting, His faithfulness and truth endure to all generations.
Psalm 100:5 AMP

Meditation has been sold as a mindless mantra, a zoning achieved by repeating over and over a word or sound that will open the soul to a higher level of knowledge or peace.   This perception of meditation is a 180 from God’s definition found in Joshua 1:8.  The term meditate is all about chewing and digesting like a cow chewing on her cud.  Meditation is meant to transform and open your spirit to God’s wisdom and leading.  As you read the Bible God speaks.  When something pops out to you STOP!  Mull it over.  Think about what is being said.  Ask God to explain it to you.  Go back to it throughout the day.  Ask God what He wants you to do with this information.   Talk about it to the people you meet.  Chew on it.  Change.

In the morning I will

Sing to the Lord!
Bless His Name!
Expect great and awesome things for He is quite amazing.
Know He is good and His mercies touch EVERY life on this planet with air and sunlight and water.  He adorns this world with plants of every variety and set the moon in the sky to govern the night and set each season.
Yes I will sing to the Lord the song of the set free, the song of the adopted, the song of the forgiven, the song to the healed,  the song of the released to serve and heal and love without strings and without limits.

Spring! Praise to the Giver of life!

Standard

In Jesus we live and breathe and move and have our being.  In Him all things have been made and hold together and without Him nothing exists that was made.

image

image

He is the exact image of the invisible God. Jesus,  You are the penultimate Artisan.   You made everything to contain Your music and dance for the joy of being.  When Moses asked what You called Yourself You said I AM.  For every need You fill.  You are  Water to our thirsty,  Light to our dark,  Bread to our hunger,  Life to our death,  Hope to our despair.  You are  Father to the orphan.  Home to the homeless, Friend to the lonely,  Strength to the weak.

You speak into every season and we welcome YOU into our Spring.  We say thank you as You welcome us into Your Spring!

Play me: A song of praise to our God

Standard

image

In the morning I say play me Lord Jesus.  Make your song rise among the nations.  A song of compassion and hope and redemption and protection and justice and knowledge and rage against the users and abusers and liars and thieves and murderers.  You, O God, sees all and knows all and records all for a day of reckoning.   You who saves each tear in Your bottle and numbers each hair on our head and have created the worlds and everything in them for the joy and protection of Your people having pursued us in our wanderings and redeemed us from the curse are worthy of endless thanks and praise.  Yes, play me. Pull my strings.  Strum and pick and fill my heart and mind and eyes, hands and feet with Your praises and purpose.  May the lost see THE WAY.  May the thirsty drink the FOUNTAIN OF LIVING WATER.   May the orphan know adoption as sons and daughters of the KING.  May the poor know they are rich.    Play the song of the set free.  Play the dance of the conqueror.  May Your song fill up the hopeless and give strength to the shy.  Sing your song of intersession and authority and Kingdom come!!!

image

And at the end of the day we will sing of Your love and faithfulness.   To God be the glory great things He has done!

In the little things: A prayer of thanksgiving

Standard

image

I thank Thee God for sight
that I can see the light
That I can know and judge
The right from wrong.

I thank Thee Lord for eyes
Your words that make me wise
And ears that hear Your love
In every song.

It’s in the little things
Like little diamond rings
My walls like melting snow
Come gently down.

Then I see that I am free
To truly now be me
For You have cut the cords
That had me bound.

A morning of splendor: A Psalm of Praise to our God

Standard

My morning walk started dark and cloudy

image

Then as the sun rose the clouds and everything became washed in hues of gold and red and pink blessing the day with radiant songs of God’s immense care and wisdom and kindness.

Like a powerful warrior our Mighty God exhilarates in His triumphal display over His enemies.  Is anything too hard for our God?  To ask is to know the very thought is ludicrous.  He clothes Himself in light and darkness runs from His presence.

I hear Your song Dear Warrior!  My soul delights in Your power over darkness.  You are the giver of light and warmth and hope for You inhabit the praises of your people and have stooped down to lift up the weak and small to accomplish the impossible.  A-men.  Let all the earth stand silent before you.  Let all the earth shout praises to the Victor!  Let all the earth weep for Your music is too glorious to contain and Your beauty is inexpressible and calls for words that cannot be uttered for there are none yet invented that can adequately contain Your glory and Your worth.  But You have compassion on us for we are dust and yet you call us precious.  You wipe our tears and call us to joy.  You call us to sit and dine at your banquet table.  You surprise us with joy!

Praise to the Friend who bears our burdens and carries us day by day!

Standard

http://bible.com/8/psa68.19 Blessed be the Lord, Who bears our burdens and carries us day by day, even the God Who is our salvation! Selah [pause, and calmly think of that]!

He leads me beside quiet waters.  He is the path to peace.  I don’ t have to struggle for first place because He is my leader and He has my best interest in mind.  He loves delighting me with good and perfect gifts.  He saves each tear and comforts me in my sorrows, pain and disappointments.   When I blunder and do senseless things he always has my back.  He will never chew on me or gloat at my stumbling.  Instead He takes my broken pieces and promises to work everything out for my good.  He is the friend that sticks closer than a brother.  When I offend or turn my back on Him He never gives up on me.  When I say I’m sorry He says I forgive you and never brings it up again.  When I am afraid He says be brave.  I’ m with you.  When I say I am small.  He says He is great.  He is very big.  There is nothing too hard for Him.  He does His best work with the small and the weak.  Isn’t He wonderful?!  His name is Jesus.
