The pedals are to dampen the sound, magnify or amplify the sound, or sustain a sound. It takes wisdom, timing, education, innate sensitivities, risk taking, practice, to transform the notes in each connection or encounter we make with others, our circumstances, our environment into the music that is you. Sometimes the wonder, the confusion, the joy, the pain within calls for a sweet whisper. Sometimes we must strike with conviction and exclaimation. Then as the song fades the music seems to take on an echoing reverb that beckons and invites repetition. Selah.

I am totally captivated by light and shadows. So interesting how we associate pain, hard times and disappointments with darkness. The light and dark times are threads that wind themselves through the story of our lives. The darkest times we find so unbearable we often shove into the recesses of our memories only to be nursed like an absessed tooth at our weakest moments. The thing about dark times, like the shadows on this keyboard, without them there is no drama, definition, interest, or beauty. The thing we so anguish over is really the part of your life’s story that makes you so unique and amazing and multilayered in your personality and character. I often whine how I hate the drama some people bring into my life but, come on, who can really hate a good drama or a canvas that pops with light and deep shadows?
