Expeditions — Travel the Road

Standard

I first saw this reality show on Netflix.  It is reviting, intense,  inspiring,  life changing.  It is life as God intended.  Not that everyone is called to poverty but all true Jesus followers are called to be about the business of reaching out with the Good News that Jesus died to make connection with the living God  a reality for everyone.  Jesus came to die so we all might live and experience forgiveness and a life of joy and purpose.

I know the title of this blog is odd and
confusing but I receive lovely devotionals every day from this group that begin with prayers to God that resonate with my heart’s desire to know God better, lean in closer to Him and receive all the blessings and gifts He says He wants to lavish on me.

Give them a look and see if this isn’t the path you’ve been looking for all along.

Watch “Alleluia + Spontaneous Worship – Amanda Cook and Steffany Gretzinger” on YouTube

Standard

Sit still.  Prepare yourself to just be still without interruption and listen to what God is telling you.  He is speaking to you.  He is the rewrite of our stories.  What you have been and who your parents were how you have used or been misused by others does not define you.  Let God rewrite you.  He will rewrite your story.  Listen. Open your ears.  Open your eyes.  Open your heart.

Spring! Praise to the Giver of life!

Standard

In Jesus we live and breathe and move and have our being.  In Him all things have been made and hold together and without Him nothing exists that was made.

He is the exact image of the invisible God. Jesus,  You are the penultimate Artisan.   You made everything to contain Your music and dance for the joy of being.  When Moses asked what You called Yourself You said I AM.  For every need You fill.  You are  Water to our thirsty,  Light to our dark,  Bread to our hunger,  Life to our death,  Hope to our despair.  You are  Father to the orphan.  Home to the homeless, Friend to the lonely,  Strength to the weak.

You speak into every season and we welcome YOU into our Spring.  We say thank you as You welcome us into Your Spring!

The rose speaks of God

And God made the rose

And behold it was very good.   God said it was very good.   On the third day He made the rose.

Why do we often think God is a killjoy?  It certainly is not the message we receive from His creation.  Jesus said He came to bring us life.   Life filled to the brim and overflowing with joy.

When man chose the path of disobedience a curse of death and decay and separation from His life came upon mankind and all of creation.  But Christ came to redeem us from the curse of breaking God’s law by becoming a curse for us.

Easter is almost here.   It is in remembrance of God’s ultimate swap meet.  In Jesus dying on the cross for our sin He said  I swap my righteousness for your sin.  I give you my life for your death.   I give you my love and acceptance from the Father for your alienation,  isolation,  judgement and death.

Why did the angels announce to the shepherds at Christ’s birth they came to announce GOOD NEWS that everyone should hear?  The good news was that God’s plan to save mankind had finally arrived in Jesus!

God is not a killjoy.   He came to restore joy.  The rose tells us that what God made is very good.  And, in fact, He has very good taste.   He made you and has given up all He has to restore your relationship with Him.  All you have to say is “Yes!”

Blessings from the rose!

Play me: A song of praise to our God

Standard

image

In the morning I say play me Lord Jesus.  Make your song rise among the nations.  A song of compassion and hope and redemption and protection and justice and knowledge and rage against the users and abusers and liars and thieves and murderers.  You, O God, sees all and knows all and records all for a day of reckoning.   You who saves each tear in Your bottle and numbers each hair on our head and have created the worlds and everything in them for the joy and protection of Your people having pursued us in our wanderings and redeemed us from the curse are worthy of endless thanks and praise.  Yes, play me. Pull my strings.  Strum and pick and fill my heart and mind and eyes, hands and feet with Your praises and purpose.  May the lost see THE WAY.  May the thirsty drink the FOUNTAIN OF LIVING WATER.   May the orphan know adoption as sons and daughters of the KING.  May the poor know they are rich.    Play the song of the set free.  Play the dance of the conqueror.  May Your song fill up the hopeless and give strength to the shy.  Sing your song of intersession and authority and Kingdom come!!!

And at the end of the day we will sing of Your love and faithfulness.   To God be the glory great things He has done!

Meet Santa Bob. God’s answer to one man’s bucket list

Bob is one amazing and grateful guy.  Over the past couple of years he beat the odds of surviving a major heart attack.  He gives all the credit to Jesus for his remarkable recovery.   Today he is the picture of health and vitality.   And the only thing on his bucket list was to be Santa Claus.   Bob said he prayed for God to give him a Santa job and not only did God get him hired to work as a Santa Claus He provided Bob  Santa  work for a year round resort nearby that is just in the making. This resort sits on 200 acres of forest land and will be called The Zip Line At Santa’s Village.
There will be two separate campgrounds,  a trout pond for fishing,  a zip line,  rides, an artisan village where  visitors can learn crafts and leather working, and, of course, Santa’s Village.   Bob will be Santa in every season and help out in the leather working venue.

By July the resort will be open and hosting the Special Olympics.
Bob is so rejoicing at God’s tremendous answer to prayer.   Bob said his dad had a hand made cross he passed down to him and he plans to wear it  under his beard on his furry Santa Suit lapel.  When children reach up and find it he will explain how God loves us so very much.

God bless you Santa Bob!

Change: Its about THE DANCE

Standard

He cradles us and delights in our trust.  He sings over us songs of deliverance and friendship and the dance.  He invites us to invite others into the dance that will never end but reflects His sufficiency in each new stanza.  Our partners may change faces but it is really Him in each refrain.  But must we change?  I am happiest with THIS SONG!  I know this one best but I feel the change is at the door and it feels like death not new beginnings.  Am I allowed to grieve?  Must I celebrate?  Must I dance?  “Yes, my beloved, dance!”  You smile as only you can, a smile that comes from a broken heart that carries our griefs and bares our sorrow to free us to love and receive love without borders.  “Yes, DANCE!” You laugh, “But let Me lead!”
