Have you heard it said that you only see what you’re prepared to see?
In other words, we often ignore what we can’t contextualize and tend only to look for things that we currently understand. But how does that work when it comes to something like this foreign invader, COVID-19, that seems to have its grip on our globe?
For many of us, we’ve never faced anything particularly like this in our lifetime. With such a great global loss of life, simple tasks like going to the grocery store are overshadowed by a sense of impending doom, and collectively we are grieving the loss of the comradery that comes with routine gatherings and public togetherness.
As a husband, parent and pastor, as a man who runs multiple businesses and who has the shared responsibility of keeping hundreds of jobs afloat, I believe it’s imperative that my priorities are straight during this pandemic. Several of you share in many of the same concerns that I have, but it’s imperative that we take hold of a truth that will guide us through the swirling disarray that COVID-19 has introduced to all our lives right now—
We are not victims. We ARE the Believers who disciple nations in times of uncertainty.
First and foremost, we have a biblical mandate to be a haven of hope, a house of healing for all those that reside outside of the church walls and I believe that if there was ever a time for us to arise and shine, it’s now. With that being said, in this week’s blog, I share three priorities that I believe ARE paramount in guiding you through these trying times and will help you gain God’s perspective.
My prayer for you this week is that you would dive deeper into God and seek out His ways to spiritually, emotionally, and even physically conquer COVID-19. I believe you are the vital victor that your family, your neighbors, and your community needs now.
