Kris Vallotin: Did you know that Christians should be the happiest people on the planet?

Did you know that Christians should be the happiest people on the planet?

I understand it can seem counterintuitive to talk about being happy when life feels overshadowed by gloom and impending doom. Still, true joy is experienced not so much in life’s easy circumstances but rather in the difficult ones. And, I’d like to propose that if there was ever a time to inoculate our culture with a shot of joy, it’s now, amid this coronavirus pandemic.

I believe the world is in a prime time right now to recognize and receive the power and value of the God-given gift of joy.

Think about it—Jesus wants you to be full of His joy! Jesus prayed, “I come to You [Father]; and these things I speak in the world so that they may have My joy made full in themselves (John 17:13). To make us even happier, God sent His Holy Spirit into our lives to comfort us. The Holy Spirit has a happy knack for supernaturally lifting our burdens.

But wait, it gets even better…

The Bible says that the evidence of the Holy Spirit working in us is “love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control . . .” (Galatians 5:22–23). There is that joy word again. We have both the joy of Jesus and the joy of the Holy Spirit. Did you get that?

YOU have been given a double anointing for joy!

I want to encourage you to get in touch with the joy God’s gifted you, and check out this week’s blog where I discuss the 4 scientific ways you were designed to be the happiest person on the planet (despite hard times). I think you’ll be surprised to find that the supernatural and scientific effects of happiness is seriously a laughing matter!!

My prayer for you this week is that you will invite the Holy Spirit to guide you through these times because joy WILL BE your outcome (since it’s a fruit of the Spirit).

Blessings,
Kris Vallotton
