“The Lord will guide you always; he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land and will strengthen your frame. You will be like a well-watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail.” (Isaiah 58:11)
Let’s do a quick experiment. Don’t worry, it won’t take long.
I want you to think back to the last time something put you in a bad mood.
I don’t know what just came to mind. Maybe it was a fight with your spouse? A meeting that didn’t go well? Your teenager?
The bad news is that those kinds of situations aren’t going away. But the good news is that your mood doesn’t have to be held hostage by them. There’s a way to rise above the way you feel.
It’s called choosing joy. It’s a daily decision, and in Christ, it’s yours to make.
With His joy, your mood doesn’t have to be situational.
With His joy, your attitude doesn’t have to be dependent on having a “good” day.
With His joy, your demeanor doesn’t have to be dictated by your circumstances.
You can choose to be proactive, instead of reactive with your happiness. Instead of drawing from a source that’s limited or circumstantial, you can depend on God’s supply.
