I heard the Lord say to me, ‘Greg, you have the wrong question.

Standard

“I heard the Lord say to me, ‘Greg, you have the wrong question. The question is not, What is my vision for you? but, What is your vision of me?’ Now that is a very different question!
This question has fascinated me ever since. For it caused me to look at my life in a way that I had not dared to entertain. I had to ask myself, What does my life communicate to others about the God that I claim to serve and represent? I frankly did not like what I saw. The message I was receiving back from others was You are intense and unapproachable. I was a driven person, and in the process I was driving others to fulfill the vision I had for the church. Outside my conscious awareness, people had too readily become mere tools to fulfill my aspirations.”
