When you listen to a prophetic voice speaking out judgment over a nation or a people group, you are listening to someone who doesn’t really understand the nature of their own relationship with Jesus. You are listening to an Old Testament prophetic voice in a New Testament context and, frankly, it’s embarrassing. You don’t get people into redemption through judgment. The Bible says it’s the goodness and the kindness of God that leads people to repentance.

  1. Thank you for sharing this message Jan, I just read on a Blog a Woman’s claim that God deliberately afflicts us and causes us to grieve, she used old Testament Scripture to confirm this but it was out of context. I hold onto the Truth you shared that it’s the goodness and the kindness of God that leads people to Repentance.

Lamentations 3: 33 For He doth not afflict willingly nor grieve the Children of Men.

God does discipline us but it comes because He gives us the freedom to choose what we want but when we don’t submit willingly and rebel we take ourselves out from under His care and His greater blessings and it is not nice suffering the bad consequences of our wrong doing or our rebellion and living without God’s Peace and Joy reminds us it’s very True that no discipline is nice.

Psalm 94:23 And He shall bring upon them their own iniquity, and shall cut them off in their own wickedness yea The Lord our God shall cut them off.

He never stops Loving us and it grieves Him to see us suffer but like the Prodigal Son’s Father He waits for us to come to our senses and return willingly, or He rescues us when we call for help with a humble heart, He also rebukes, warns and chastises us through His Word in Scripture and Christians who walk in obedience but this is in Love and for Love even when it is direct and firm.

James 1:12-14 Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried he shall receive the crown of life which the Lord hath promised to them that Love Him. Let no Man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God for God cannot be tempted with evil neither tempteth He any Man But every Man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.

Hebrews 4:15-16 For we have not an High Priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities but was in all points tempted like as we are yet without Sin Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

Christian Love and Blessings – Anne.
