Graham Cooke: He said, “To consider yourself dead, just be alive to Me.” As you are alive to the Lord, you will be automatically dead to self.

The chief discipline in the New Testament is abiding. You have been given the Holy Spirit to teach you how to stay in Christ, how to remain, how to abide, and how to love this life. We are partnering with God so that we are crucifying the flesh. That doesn’t mean that we are trying to die to self. When you are fixed on God and occupied with God, you are automatically dying to self. That is why He said, “To consider yourself dead, just be alive to Me.” As you are alive to the Lord, you will be automatically dead to self.
