I come undone every time at the end of all Dorothy’s desperate attempts to return home in the movie THE Wizard of Oz when she clicks her ruby slippers and repeats over and over “There’s no place like home.” This was my overwhelming. response as I came across Psalm 84 this morning. “Even the sparrow has found a home, and the swallow a nest for herself where she may have her young– a place near Your altar O Lord Almighty, my King and my God. (V. 3) What does it mean to finally be home? Sanctuary. Peace. Being totally loved and accepted, cared for. Everthing makes sense. No more needs or wants because my Dad has everything covered. I hope you are inspired and blessed as you read and hear what God is saying to you in this Psalm.
This picture was taken after a lengthy and enjoyable conversation with the grounds keeper at a mansion in Anaheim Hills. High in the hills surrounded by giant red wood trees with a forever view to the ocean was this amazing gated home. How I could sense this man’s delight and joy to just be there tending the grounds. “Better is one day in Your courts than thousands elsewhere!”
