Praise to the God of Every Season

Standard

People travel around the world to see what their ears have heard: Unbelievable fall colors! But You O God of every season have put on a show in my own back yard! To everything there is a season and a purpose under heaven. A time to plant and a time to reap. A time to die and a time to give birth. A time to wound and a time to heal. A time to speak and a time to refrain from speaking. A time for peace and a time for war. You, O God of every season, enters into every season of my life with celebration and tears, with wild ecstasy and brilliant strategy, with wisdom and tremendous tenderness. Amid my foibles and weaknesses and idiosyncrasies You lift me up and declare my worthiness of Your love and enduring loyalty. I am small. You are great. I am limited. There is no end to You. No boundaries. No worthy opponent. You are my GOOD SHEPHERD. When I am distracted and suddenly find myself bewildered and lost I know You never lost sight of me. If I go to the deepest end of the ocean where no light can reach You are there. If I travel to the farthest end of the galaxy or get sucked into a cosmic wormhole You are there. If I cower under my blankets trembling from the boogeyman or monster I fear under my bed You are under the covers with me. We are inseparable and I am so very glad. With each season of my life I will not be alone. You were with me in my rosebud years, my blossoming years, my strong, mature, productive years, and, as my strength recedes I smile sadly for I miss being who I was, but I am not alone in the season ahead. You make all things beautiful in their time and You, O God of every season, are beautiful ALL THE TIME!
