We are in the demolition phase of a redo on our balcony. Since my husband is an amazingly apt do it yourselfer I foresee a long work in process with this huge project. In everything I do my bent is to go philosophical and I see this latest roll up the sleeves adventure as a metaphor of life. It’s easy in the thick if it when the climb is steep, hard, unrelenting, slow, and with meager evidence of progress to become disheartened. We grasp at any offer to cut short the struggle but, truth be told, we’ve just got to keep doing what it takes or we’ll never arrive. The Bible says we see in a glass darkly. It’s not really clear what are lives are meant to look like. We are a work in progress. God has put eternity in the heart of man. He has created us for higher and greater, and lasting purposes. The Psalmist says “Better is one day in your courts than thousands elsewhere. My heart and soul cries out to You the Living God. For You are water to my soul.”. We become so distracted by the cheep and quick fixes from the dollar store we miss the amazing and priceless blessings at the Inventor’s workshop. We see dimly but God offers sight. We lack discernment to understand true values as we seek to build our future but God says “Seek Me and everything else will fall into place. Life will truly make sense.”
As we make progress with our renovation I’ll post more pics of our progress. I’m excited to see how it turns out. I’m excited to see how my life turns out.
